MSU Better Kid Care

The Michigan Better Kid Care program offers training services for childcare providers through its network of county extension offices, which are located statewide.

Michigan Better Kid Care offers free face-to-face training in addition to free single-topic online training modules. All training workshops and modules are specifically designed for child care providers. The program is funded by the Early Childhood Investment Corporation in Michigan.

The online training modules were developed for child care providers that have an interest in online learning! Voice-guided PowerPoint presentations help providers understand key concepts, try demonstrations and extend learning into the child care setting. Each training module can be counted towards one DHS clock or training hour or used to fulfill specific DHS licensing requirements.

Online trainings are not eligible for CEUs.

Please read through the procedures below to ensure that you understand the online training process before you begin the trainings.

1. Register for an account. You do not need to register if you already have an account. You must provide a valid email address. To complete the registration process, you must check the email account you provide and follow the activation link. Your account will not be enabled untill you do so!
2. Print the additional handouts listed that you will need to complete the training.
3. Click on the link to the link "Take the training"
4. View the online training and participate in the activities and demonstrations.
5. Once the training is viewed, click on the "Survey" link and complete the feedback and demographics form.
6. Click on the "Quiz" link and complete the quiz—pass with an 80% or higher.
7. Once the quiz is completed, click on the "User Panel" link and choose the completion certificate that you would like to print.
8. Print out the completion certificate that will display as a PDF file. Print as many copies as you will need for your records.
